Jorge Augusto Echeverría | General Coordinator

Jorge is a Guatemalan-Mexican psychologist with more than 25 years of experience working at the nexus between human development and Indigenous rights. As PSYDEH’s General Coordinator for the last 16 years, Jorge has designed and produced projects while coordinating PSYDEH’s field team of professionals and community partners to ensure successful programs implementation.

Jorge completed a three-year term representing PSYDEH as Hidalgo’s only NGO sitting on the national citizen advisory board to the Mexican federal institute making Indigenous community development policy. And he was certified by the British Council as an Active Citizens workshop facilitator.

Jorge’s career began in 1992 with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)’s multi-year initiative in the Guatemalan Ixil triangle during and after the Guatemalan civil war. Jorge is a graduate of the School of Psychological Sciences from Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala.
