Learning with GlobalGiving’s Mexican Network of Nonprofits

GlobalGiving logoMexican organizations in the midst of COVID-19 search for online mechanisms that give their members, partners, and beneficiaries the knowledge, skills, and perspectives they need to perform at high levels during and post the pandemic. PSYDEH is no different.

On April 17, PSYDEH General Coordinator, Jorge Echeverria, attended the GlobalGiving sponsored virtual panel discussion ‘Experiences and Learning from the Current Contingency in Latin America’. The panel included four organizations with projects in Guatemala, Panama, Peru, and Mexico. Each shared their experience responding and adapting their programs to the current situation. Jorge states,

“It was very pleasant to be in this panel organized by GlobalGiving; listening to the experiences of each organization reaffirmed the importance of our own work. Organizations have to adapt to situations no matter how strong the crisis is; social work must continue to benefit the communities we serve.”

On April 23rd, we accepted a second invitation from GlobalGiving to learn virtually. Mr. Echeverria, as well as Mahathi Kumar, PSYDEH’s special projects coordinator, participatedconstruccion de una de donantes individuales nacionales y extrajeros in the virtual strengthening session ‘Building a Network of Donors in Mexico and Abroad’ that was given by AMEXTRA, a Mexican organization focused on promoting sustainable change processes and empowering local participation to transform living conditions in marginalized communities. Mahathi says, “[w]e feel honored to be part of this national network of nonprofits GlobalGiving builds in Mexico. In this particular session, we shared with more than 50 people over 2 hours on how to build our own fundraising strategies we need to sustain work benefiting the communities we serve.”

The importance of training as an investment in an organization to achieve growth at the level of competence development and the organizational image is unquestionable.
