Diogo Heber | Photographer & Filmmaker

Diogo is a photographer and filmmaker with a multicultural background and a passion for socio-political subjects. He speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.

He was born in Salvador, Bahia, and grew up moving with his family all over Brazil and Latin America. When he was 8 his family moved to Peru, then Venezuela, and then Mexico. At 17 he finished high school in Morelia, Michoacán, and then lived a year in Europe studying French.

His fondest memories as a kid are of writing stories on his grandma’s typewriter and taking photos with his mother’s 35mm camera.

He attended New York University and graduated with a Major in Politics and a Minor in Creative Writing in Spanish.

He worked as a political advisor for campaigns in Mexico, interned for the Mayor’s Office in NYC, and later became a lobbyist for G.E.P. in Mexico City.

Disenchanted, and after years of dealing with depression, he left politics and took the plunge into photography and filmmaking.

Since then, he has had multiple short films awarded in international festivals, and photography expositions in NYC and CDMX. Most recently he worked as an assistant in executive production for Pimienta Films, involved in projects from acclaimed directors such as Jacques Audiard, Gregory Nava, Amat Esquivel, and others.

Diogo currently lives in CDMX with his Tibetan Terrier, Dalai.
