Resource raising in German countries

PSYDEH’s resource-raising strategy continues to bear valuable fruit. Building off of Mexico’s long-standing relationship with German-speaking countries as well as our own history collaborating with German-speaking colleagues, PSYDEH launches our new strategy for target country markets Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Our priority focus areas are crowdfunding, cause marketing, and foundations.

Maecenata & betterplace.org

In late-2020, PSYDEH was accepted to the Transnational Giving Program of the German foundation Maecenata. With this partnership, Maecenata processes tax-deductible donations to PSYDEH’s much like we do with USA-based CAF America, Benevity, and soon GoodCoin. This means, for example, we can partner with Germany’s largest crowdfunding platform betterplace.org through which we offer German citizens a tax deduction for their donations to our COVID-19 program.

“On betterplace.org, more than 20,000 projects from all over the world collect donations: These range from children’s aid, environment or animal protection to education, or development aid projects.”

In the short term, we work to replicate our success with USA-based GlobalGiving on the betterplace platform. Over the longer term, and with PSYDEH being the only true Latin American nonprofit on their platform, we hope to innovate with their leadership team any number of pilot projects from which they can win and we and our local community partners will win.

German Start-up Yuka Soul

resource raisingIn October 2020, PSYDEH was contacted by two German women owners of the start-up Yuka Soul, which sells handmade straps for sunglasses made in Mexico. They now represent PSYDEH’s first cause marketing partnership in Germany with Yuka Soul donating .50 cents EUR for every Strap sold. As Yuka Soul states:

“Mexico and its citizen, women’s rights, and social justice – all this is dear to our hearts. That’s why we donate with every sold tape to the Women Empowerment Projects of PSYDEH” (translated)

Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation

resource raisingThanks to PSYDEH’s participation in the German online competition #youforG20 in late-2017, we have since been growing an alliance with dynamic German bottom-up empowerment-focused Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation. Our collaboration deepened in late 2018 when Lemonaid’s Latin America lead, Hanna Brüning, accompanied PSYDEH on a field visit to the Otomi-Tepehua region in Hidalgo, Mexico. And PSYDEH’s Damon Taylor accompanied a Lemonaid team to visit their actual and prospective non-profit partners in Hidalgo and Puebla. Despite a pandemic pause, the foundation we built in 2018-2019 is now the basis on which we explore a three-year project partnership in 2021-2024.

German Landing Page on PSYDEH Website

With our Swiss German colleague Carmen Grab leading the way, we link the above developments with PSYDEH’s own German-language content into a meaningful resource-raising strategy. For example. we’ll soon have our own donation page in German on our website. This lets German speaks make a direct donation or sends them over to our betterplace.org campaign at which they can make a donation processed by Maecenata. For more information on how you might join our efforts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, please contact Damon Taylor ([email protected]).
