María de los Ángeles Luna García | President, Board of Directors
PSYDEH, A.C was founded by Maria pursuant to her five years of fieldwork in indigenous communities affected by the armed conflict in Guatemala through the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF, as well as two years as a teacher in the General High School of the municipality of Hueheutla in the State of Hidalgo.
These two experiences inspired Maria to form a group of professionals (Doctors, Nutritionists, Psychologists, and Educators) to voluntarily initiate service actions in different communities of Hueheutla. At the end of 2006, four of these women decided to form PSYDEH, one of the four from the municipality of Huehuetla and the other three from Tulancingo and Santiago Tulantepec. Three of these four remain as PSYDEH’s president, secretary, and treasurer of the Board.
María graduated from the Faculty of Psychological Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos with a degree in Psychology. She has multiple Diplomas in Human Rights and Teacher Training, as well as the Master in Ethics and Values of the Technological Institute of Education. Currently, she is in charge of the department of Psychopedagogy of the Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Hidalgo and as a support coordinator of several projects executed by PSYDEH, A.C.
